Big fish or a little pond?
I was casually scrolling through Xbox gamepass and saw Man Eater in the recently added section. Seemed like a perfect time to check it out!
You start with a basic but entertaining tutorial which also sets the opening scene nicely. With a great blend of comedic commentary voiced over by Jerry from Rick and Morty, you start the game knowing exactly where it is going. This is not going to be a serious game and as a huge fan of the Borderlands franchise, I was more than happy with this.
Since Man Eater has been out quite a while now (May 2020) I won't be doing an in-depth review, more a summary of my thoughts/ experience.
Visually, I enjoyed the bright colours and overall look of the game. It kept me invested and enjoying the experience.
With easy-to-reach milestones, the levelling system keeps you invested and with a constant goal to achieve.
Evolutions let you play the game your own way. As you level up and work your way through the story you will unlock a variety of evolutions you can apply to your predator.
Overall I enjoyed my time playing Man Eater. I lost quite a few hours to it and the bright colours and amazing voice-over kept me enthralled. It is a fun game that doesn't take itself seriously. I will however say that it also didn't pull me in enough to keep me going back. a few hours in and I moved on to something different. I can see this being something very enjoyable to sink hours into however it would take me a while on the as and when side rather than getting back from work and itching to play.
